It's Hard Work Falling Asleep

Almost every night I risk waking Henry up just to check on him. I love to see how he fell asleep. Some nights it sounds like he is doing laps around his crib. Other nights he never stops babbling. My favorites are nights that he is quiet and then I find something like this:

I'm not sure exactly what he was doing when he fell asleep, but it must have been exhausting!

1st Toothbrush

The doctor suggested that we started brushing Henry's teeth...I have forgotten to do this every night since. Tonight we finally started. Henry thought that the toothbrush was cool, and of course he put it
right into his mouth!

Henry: "____________"

We spent the today at the cottage. Henry helped check out the new kayaks. He seemed to enjoy sitting in them on land, we'll see if he likes it when they are in the water. In this picture he was looking at Grandpa sitting on the dock. He definitely looks like he is ready to say something, the question is what...any thoughts?

10 Months

Henry turned 10 months on Monday. Today was his doctor's appointment and he did great. Henry's favorite part of the visit is getting to sit on the paper on the table. He just loves how it crinkles. Before I knew it he had the whole length crumpled in his lap!

Henry weighed in at 21 lbs 8.5 oz, and is 30 inches. He is still growing, but luckily it is slowing down a bit. Maybe he will stay in one size of clothes for the summer!

My 1st Mother's Day Picture

I have been trying to come up with traditions for our family now that Henry is here. I don't want to start too many since it can be hard to keep them up, but I do want to have a few special ones. On Mother's Day we started a tradition that I think will be my favorite. Each year Henry and I will take a picture together and put it in my card. I will have a memory captured for each year.
We will do it for Father's Day too so that Scott has his own special memories!

Mechanic in the Making

Henry is our mini-mechanic. Tonight we watched while Scott changed the oil in the van. Henry wanted to get down and play, so I put him on Scott's creeper. He thought it was fun, especially when he got to hold the tools!

A New Fan?

Henry was put to bed an hour ago. It is now 9:09 pm and he is still awake. He has been caught standing in front of the fan more than 3 times. The fan is not new, it has been on in his room every night this week. Tonight, however, it is oscillating. It is high enough that it doesn't blow directly on him, unless he is standing in front of it. So, that is what he is doing. Talking to it, pointing at it, and not going to sleep.

Bubbles

Yesterday we spent part of the afternoon playing with bubbles at Grandpa and Grandma's. It was so nice, we had to be outside. This was the first time Henry had seen bubbles like this. He liked to crawl after them, but wasn't so sure about the popping.

A Week in Review

Last week was my mom's birthday, so Olivia and I packed up the boys to go see her. After a while the chickens made their debut. Levi thought they were great, Henry was a little slower in warming up to them. When you squeeze the wings they play the chicken dance, and it speeds up every time. The chickens were a big hit with the boys.

We are still trying to get Henry to feed himself, but he is being choosy in what he will pick up. My mom discovered that he was willing to eat crackers on his own, so those have become the appetizer to every meal. Last week I opened a can of pears for Henry to try. I poured it into a container since there were too many for one meal in the can. Apparently I left it a little too close to Henry. I was looking the other way and heard a tupperware hit the floor. I couldn't remember giving him something to play with, so what was that? I turned to find the entire can of juice in his tray and the pears strewn about. He thought it was a great way to make some splashes!

We spent our first Saturday at the cottage. Henry liked being outside and enjoyed playing with everything he could find. He went up a step for the first time. The boys were playing on the porch and the next thing we knew he was up the step into the living room. Time to start blocking off even more things. Henry is on the move again!
