Grocery Fun
Going to and coming home from the grocery store is always an interesting experience. Today's trip was fairly normal. Halfway through the trip Henry gets sick of the cart so he gets carried.
We got home and he couldn't wait to get out of the car seat. As I unloaded the groceries, Henry found a bag to explore. I had no idea that a can of pears could entertain him for so long!

Hiding from the World
When we got home from spending the afternoon at my sister's, Henry was tired and hot. He took a nap and woke up with a fever. After a cool bath he seemed to be doing a bit better, but still tired. Early to bed will surely turn into early to rise. I just always get a kick out of how he sleeps. Apparently he was trying to tune out the world around him...if only we could be so lucky on days we aren't feeling well!

Father's Day
Father's Day has come and gone, but being a father never ends once it starts. Scott has found a place in Henry's little heart, just like he had in Scott's from the moment he was born. It has been almost a year of watching their bond grow. From the squeals of being tickled to the dualing motor boat noises, the memories just keep coming!

Sleepy Head...No Way!
For the past few nights when Henry goes to bed he is rubbing his eyes and yawning. I lay him down, he pulls his blankie over his head and out of the room I go. This is the normal routine. He is usually asleep within minutes.
This is no longer the case.
56 minutes and counting tonight. 87 minutes last night. There have been a few napping times that I thought he was sleeping...I don't think he ever shut his eyes.
He doesn't cry, just rolls, walks around the edge of the crib, and sometimes talks to himself. I think that he is just trying to act innocently so that we will get him back up.
Scott says let him be. He isn't crying, it is his bed time, so he should stay there. I always feel bad that he obviously isn't as sleepy as I thought and want to get him up. I usually don't though.
Last night I looked in on him and his wide eyes were looking right back at me. Now what? He definitely saw me...I would feel horrible if someone looked at me and then turned and walked away. So, I rubbed his head and turned on his CD. It still took another half hour for him to fall asleep.
I just don't understand. I hit the pillow and am out, sometimes long before I even reach the pillow. Scott is sound asleep within seconds of saying "Amen." I know that Henry is ours, but things like this make me wonder...why didn't he get this trait?

Memorial Weekend
We spent our first long weekend at the cottage and Henry did great. He liked being in the kayaks, in and out of the water. Plenty of crawling and playing was accomplished. Henry even tried a few new foods - baked beans, pancakes and sugar cookies! He seemed to have a great weekend.
